Ruby Joule has been performing her award-winning acts all over the continent from Montreal to Las Vegas to Bourbon Street since 2006. She has been awarded “Most Original,” “Best Costume,” and “Texas Performer of the Year,” honors, and she is a founding member and co-producer of The Jigglewatts Burlesque in Austin, Texas. An avid student of both classic and neo burlesque, she has studied with some of the greats including Joan Arline, Ellion Ness, Michelle L’Amour, and Jo Weldon, and she also co-taught a world dance workshop at BurlyCon 2011. Her style dances the spectrum from the whimsical to the enigmatic, and she is known for her effortless grace, formidable elegance, and the lavish glamour of her routines. Model, music video queen, film actress, international burlesque sensation, and writer for Rockabilly-Online Magazine, there aren’t enough hours in the day for this lone starlet!

“The East Austin Studio Tour (EAST) features dozens of creative events each year, but we couldn’t help being especially intrigued by psychedelic taxidermy, neon Marie Antoinette wigs, vintage clothes, and pop grunge illustrations all in one space. We stopped by the Maison d’Etoile building (2109 E. Cesar Chavez) during installation to catch up with Allyson Garro, Hope Perkins, and Bradley Wilkinson to learn more about their EAST offerings.”
On Sunday, November 18th, Maison d’Etoile will host a Dr. Sketchy’s anti-art class from 5:30-8:30pm, where a live model will be styled by Perkins and Wilkinson as “the love child of these two artists.” Supplies will be provided for those who wish to draw. This event is free to the public. Please drop in and sketch!
The model for the event is also the host of Dr. Sketchy’s, Amelia. She will be wearing a deer antler headpiece, a wig by Coco Coquette, and an ensemble styled by Perkins and Wilkinson
